US Glass Article features Sentech’s Clearspan façade at 66 Galen
Featured in the March 2026 issue of USGlass Magazine, 66 Galen highlights the growing role of high-performance façade engineering within the Boston area life science sector. Designed by Elkus Manfredi Architects and installed by Sunrise Erectors, 66 Galen Street is a 224,000 square foot Class A building in Watertown, Massachusetts near Watertown Square. Adjacent to Boston and Cambridge, Massachusetts, 66 Galen Street is a standout project that marries advanced life-science facilities with sustainability and urban connectivity and serves as a catalyst for growth in Watertown’s biotech landscape, offering premium lab and office space integrated with green design, energy innovation, and tenant-focused amenities. Sentech engineered, manufactured and supplied the structural glass entrance facade.
Sentech’s project scope focused on delivering a clean, transparent structural glass façade at the building’s prominent street corner. Partnering with Glazing Contractor and installer, Sunrise Erectors, Inc. and General Contractor John Moriarty & Associates, the system was engineered to support both the architectural vision and the demanding performance requirements of a contemporary environment.

The entrance façade features expansive structural glass walls utilizing the VetraFin-T Series system, wrapping the north and west elevations with large-format low-iron insulated glass. Precision stainless-steel toggles and slender vertical fins create a frameless appearance while maximizing daylight penetration and maintaining exceptional clarity from both the interior and exterior.
Throughout the building envelope, high-performance glazing systems contribute significantly to energy efficiency, occupant comfort, and solar control. The project also incorporates more than 230 custom laminated glass fins along key elevations, helping manage daylight while reinforcing the building’s sculptural identity along the riverfront.
The result is a façade that balances transparency, thermal performance, and technical precision — creating a highly engineered yet visually light architectural expression. As Watertown continues to evolve into a premier destination for life science innovation, 66 Galen stands as a showcase for advanced glass engineering and collaborative façade design.
