Project Feature: Indeed Tower

Completed in March of 2021, 200 West Sixth Street- also known as Indeed Tower- covers an entire city block in the heart of downtown Austin. At 36-stories tall, it stands as the tallest and largest office tower in downtown Austin. The strikingly designed tower features a dramatic, sloping façade, a signature architectural crown and soaring, transparent lobby façades that soar up to 39-ft in height. The design sought to incorporate old and new, with special consideration paid to the adjacent historic former post office building.

The base of the tower features four structural glass walls and one structural glass canopy, utilizing Sentech’s VetraFin-G series system in combination with our high-capacity entrance system. The façade heights vary between 35-ft and 39-ft at the South and East elevations, totaling over 7,600 sq ft of various types of low-iron tempered, laminated structural glass.

Transparent and striking, the resulting design allows for seamless connectivity and integration between the tower, post office, the urban plaza and Austin’s bustling street life. The architect, Page Southerland Page, sought to prioritize materials with health and environmental transparency, and the soaring lobby deliberately fosters that human-environment connection, allowing for the penetration of natural light, maximizing views and connectivity to the external environment.

As Jim Rambin from Austin Towers noted, “Block 71 sums up the manner in which we’d prefer Austin to grow- adding height and much-needed office space to the downtown core in the form of a strikingly-designed tower, while simultaneously accommodating the existing historic former post office building on the same block and actually improving that structure’s utility to the public.”
