After the Texas Rangers relocated from the former Rangers Ballpark in 2019, the venue was transformed into what is now Choctaw Stadium. A standout feature is the Batter’s Eye Club, which was renovated in 2012 to bring fans closer to the action by introducing enhanced sightlines and dynamic event spaces to the beloved ballpark.
The Batter’s Eye Club, designed by Sterling Barnett Little Architecture, is a 6,250-square-foot climate-controlled indoor space built at the top of Greene’s Hill. Replacing the stadium’s original 1994 “batter’s eye” structure, this exclusive club was outfitted with a custom two-way structural glass wall system engineered and supplied by Sentech Architectural Systems. Spanning almost 73-ft long by 11-ft high, this specialized, sloped glass viewing area was designed to remain completely dark on the field side to prevent any visual distraction for players at the plate, while allowing guests inside to enjoy an unobstructed, glare-free view of the game.
Sentech’s VetraPoint system was utilized for this structural glass wall for its unparalleled design flexibility. Our VetraPoint system allows for architectural creativity throughout the design process- from connection details to façade geometry and support structure options. This system can be any combination of glass fins, steel fins, cable trusses or aluminum fins, and can be used with a wide variety of glass types, including monolithic, laminated and insulated. Fully concealed and embedded fitting options are available. Additionally, this structural glass system can be used to design façade applications, overhead applications, floor/step-on applications, and blast-resistant structural glass applications. The addition of 100% metallized solar film (medium tint) reduces solar heat and glare to create a sense of viewer privacy, while substantially expanding the view of the field.
Following the 2020 remodel that adapted the lower bowl for soccer, football, and live entertainment, the Batter’s Eye Club remains a highly sought-after, premium multi-use venue providing floor-to-ceiling panoramic views of the field for a variety of events. Choctaw Stadium is a piece of the franchise’s history sitting right next door to the current home of the Texas Rangers – Globe Life Field.
