Built in 1980 and situated in the heart of Stamford’s Central Business District, this 16-story, 533,000 sq. ft. structural steel frame tower was completely modernized in 2023. Perkins Eastman crafted a high-profile modernization design strategy to enhance and elevate the public-facing areas through material selection and by introducing amenities including an outdoor terrace, a fitness center, and a vibrant lobby bar, café, and marketplace. Sentech engineered and supplied custom structural glass façade elements utilizing our VetraFin-A aluminum structural glass system with sleek fins that seamlessly blend transparency, strength, and contemporary aesthetics.
The project encompasses six individual structural glass walls, creating expansive visual continuity and floods the interior lobby and amenity spaces with natural daylight. Two massive facade walls span 150-ft wide by 20-ft tall and two mid-range glass walls measure approximately 59-ft and 72-ft wide by 20-ft tall with two structural glass entries 13-ft wide by 20-ft tall. Finished with a high-durability, two-coat Kynar finish, the structural aluminum supports integrate harmoniously with the building’s broader architectural aesthetic, offering a clean, minimal, and modern entrance envelope. Each glass wall features single-panel vertical spans with invisible structural attachments, eliminating bulky horizontal framing and delivering uninterrupted views between the vibrant exterior plaza and interior building spaces. Sentech’s precision-engineered custom fittings and aluminum fin components allowed for smooth field installation and thermal performance optimization, contributing to the overall revitalized vision for 400 Atlantic Street.

The façade updates at 400 Atlantic Street demonstrate how targeted structural glass interventions can re-energize commercial office properties, creating vibrant, light-filled public spaces and elevating tenant experience.
